Google Summer of Code is a global program focused on bringing more student developers into open source software development. Students work with an open-source organization on a 10-week programming project during their break from a post-secondary academic program.
As a part of Google Summer of Code, student participants are paired with a mentor from the participating organizations, gaining exposure to real-world software development and techniques. Students have the opportunity to spend the break between their school semesters earning a stipend while working in areas related to their interests.
Google will pay you a minimum of 1500$ and a maximum of 3300$ stipend amount if you passed this activity and also got a certificate from google.
Procedure
Students contact the mentor organizations they want to work with and write up a project proposal for the summer. If accepted, students spend a few weeks integrating with their organizations prior to the start of coding. Students then have 10 weeks to code, meeting the deadlines agreed upon with their mentors.
Eligibility Criteria:
- You must be at least 18 years of age when you register
- You must be enrolled in or accepted into a post-secondary academic program, including a college, university, masters program, Ph.D. program, undergraduate program, a licensed coding school, or similar type of program as of May 17, 2021, or have graduated from the program between December 1, 2020, and May 17, 2021.
- You must be eligible to work in the country you will reside in during the program.
- You have not already been accepted as a Student in GSoC two or more times.
- You must reside in a country that is not currently embargoed by the United States. See Program Rules for more information.
