For my dream vacation destination, the lustrous land of South Africa would be a top contender. Even though I’ve yet to visit South Africa, I’m fascinated by the richness of this land’s history, culture and wild animals. For those who want to immerse themselves fully in its surroundings, the option of staying in a tree house hotel is available. It would probably feel like a modern day Robinson Crusoe experience to be living in the heart of a forest and listening to the sounds of birds and trees and may be a near river or sea.
Going to South Africa provides numerous opportunities for eclectic activities such as shark cage diving and ostrich riding. Shark cage diving involves placing a few people in a cage and then submerging them in waters where sharks have been lured by throwing food. This is as close as possible you can get to a live shark without fearing getting attacked. Ostrich riding is another interesting activity that people indulge in when visiting South Africa. There are plenty of ostrich farms around that offer ostrich rides. If one is too scared to ride an ostrich, it is probably amusing to watch others ride them. Another famous activity is penguin sighting at Boulder’s beach where you can go to the beach and find penguins nearby involved in their own activities such as eating and preening. Whale watching is another activity popular in South Africa in which you get a chance to watch one of the world’s largest mammals in their majestic prime.
Since I would prefer to have a happening holiday rather than a serene one, South Africa seems to promise to live up to my expectations. One of the most beautiful coastlines in the world is located in South Africa making it a perfect place for hiking so that one can enjoy spectacular scenery first hand. For those who crave an adrenaline rush in picturesque surroundings, canoeing and rafting down a river would be excellent choices. This can be followed by a camping trip to complete the outdoor experience.
Other activities popular among tourists include bungee jumping and hot air balloon rides. Typically hot air balloon rides are carried out a bit before sunrise so that one can witness the spread of light across the magnificent land. A visit to South Africa would seem incomplete with going on a safari or visiting a wildlife game reserve where one may get to spot exotic animals such as leopards and cheetahs. There may also be opportunities to ride African elephants.
For the faint of heart who want to experience South Africa, there are numerous activities such as riding a luxury train from where one gets to view the gorgeous scenery from the comfort of their suite. Visiting local museums, markets and bazaars would probably provide an enriching insight into the South African culture. Lastly, when I get to visit South Africa I would definitely want to watch a local football match in South Africa because I missed the 2010 FIFA world cup that was hosted there.
