The Night Mail passes through meadows, cotton fields, barren and deserted places rather Swiftly. The birds pay a little bit of attention to the fast moving coach, but the sheep, dogs and other creatures take no notice of the Night Mail.

Questions Answers

Q: Give a brief description of the night coach.

The poet describes the Night Mail as a living being. The coach travels all night and brings letters, parcels, gifts and cheques for people around the country. It reaches the bungalows, the slums, the shops and above all the loving heart of the girl. The coach is punctual. She neighs like a horse. At times the Night Mail shows temper. Perhaps she did not like the grass bending its head down. She expresses this anger by emitting heavy sound like that of snorting.
