Educational institutions have their unique traditions. Some educational institutions excel in academics, some in Sports and some in other literary and other extra-curricular activities. I am lucky enough to seek admission in such a college as enjoys the most renowned and historical reputation throughout the country. Govt. College Karachi is repleted with academic and extra-curricular activities assets. Its functions and are well-known all around. One of the main Ceremonies ceremonies of our college is the prize distribution ceremony. It is quite colorful, and fascinating event of the college. Undoubtedly it is a gala day of college history.
This year our college prize distribution ceremony was held in December. The mild cold of winter was celebrated with the warmth of the spirit of joy. The ceremony was scheduled on 15th December in Quaid Hall. The Director of Education was the chief guest on this occasion.[the_ad id=”17141″]
The long-awaited day arrived at last. It was a fine day. There was a great hustle and bustle in the college from dawn. Students gathered in the college lawns. They stood in their groups at different places. At 9 o’clock the ceremony started. We welcomed a huge gathering very warmly. The roses were showered on the guests.
The formal function started at 9.30 with the recitation of Holy verses from the Holy Quran. A student from the second year offered Naat. Then our Principal addressed the guests and told the historical achievements of our college. The prizes were given to five best students of the college. I was one of them. It was a historical day. Two senior Professors also delivered speeches on educational topics. There were also prizes for the best sportsmen of the college, best debaters and scouts.
The Chief guest was an old student of this college. He told us that this college had made great progress. He also narrated some interesting events of his college life. The Chief Guest described the beauty and glory of the college.
Then the time for prize distribution arrived. We were called on stage one by one. I was very excited on this occasion. I shook hands with the Chief Guest and received my prize. The ceremony continued for two hours. Then the Chief Guest was given College souvenir. The Principal thanked all the honorable guests. The guests were offered tea and refreshment. After some time, we left for our homes.
I still remember this wonderful day and the most memorable prize distribution ceremony. No doubt such events are rare and unforgettable. I still enjoy the sweet memories of that wonderful prize distribution.
