Holidays especially weekends are always enjoyable as they provide us blessed breaks to change hard routines. They are also a source of enjoyment and relaxation. Holidays are always a welcome change. The best way to make use of time is to travel to the best places of pleasure and charm. Therefore, visits to certain great and important places are really very useful in many ways.
I always enjoy visits to historical places very much. It is my routine to visit and go for a picnic with my family and friends whenever find free time and get a chance to do so. Last Sunday, when the One-week Mid-Term holidays started our group of friends decided to visit the historical Qasim Bagh at Multan. The very idea was so exciting and pleasant. The beauties of Nature are a blessing.

The plan and program regarding the date, day, time and mode of traveling were finalized. Different duties of arrangements were assigned to different persons. At last, the day and time approached. We had planned to gather at the college gate. So, on the fixed time we all gathered at the college gate. All the arrangements were perfect.

The bus was new, beautiful, and comfortable. The weather was very fine and fit for pleasure trip. The boys were dressed in colorful dresses. They were all in very gay moods and high spirits. They were talking to each other excitedly and making their individual plans to make it a memorable trip. All in all, it was an ideal day for a visit to a historical place.
The journey started very early in the morning as it is a tradition of traveling to start journey as early as possible. The mellow sunshine, the cool breeze, and above all the scene of sunrise was amazing. The journey is always noisy and loud. Everyone was sitting with his best friend. During the journey, we sang songs, raised slogans, and shared gossip and jokes. After a journey of two hours, we reached Qasim Bagh. We went straight to the office of the in-charge of Qasim Bagh. He welcomed us with open arms. He gave us tickets and all the necessary information about the great Qasim Bagh.
We started our visit from the main gate (Bab-e-Qasim). It was beautifully built and maintained and reflected the grandeur of ancient architecture. By just watching the gate the glory and the greatrešs of iš history brightened the corridors of our minds. All the parts were integrated symmetry. The beautiful image, the typical atmosphère arid the unique history cast a spell on us. It was a splendid combination of old and modern art of construction. On the one side, it reflected the historical aspect of Muhammad Bin Qasim.

On the other side, it showed us the religious Supremacy of the great Saints like Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya, Hazrat Shah Rukn-e-Alam, and many other friends of Almighty ALLAH. First of all, we went to the tombs of the saints and offered Fateha. Then we went to the historical highest point known as Damdama. We viewed the whole city from that top. It was a unique view.

We walked along the lush green areas. We got tired We rested at the public park. We sat there for half an hour and chatted. Then we felt hungry and took our lunch. Some of our friends suggested playing a cricket match. Soon, it started raining. We loved it very much. Rain and cricket have a Wonderful relation. Though we all got wet but we enjoyed it. This beautiful shower in summer on a Sunday was Worth enjoying.

Then we again decided to visit other parts of Qasim Bagh. It has many charming things to offer. This visit added to our knowledge. We have never seen or heard many things about Qasim Bagh.
We spent almost six hours at Qasim Bagh. We enjoyed the great scene, hustle, and bustle, and spicy and tasty foodstuff available there. The whole visit was very charming. Each and everything was printed on our minds. We also did some shopping. We purchased charming gifts and decoration pieces. We returned home with sweet and enjoyable memories of this wonderful visit. No doubt such days are rare and unforgettable.

Pakistan has a grand historic past. She is famous for her historical places, monuments and buildings. Mahon-jo-Daro and Harrapa are the oldest centers of civilization. The other historical centres are Bambore, Maklee, Thatta, Lahore, Multan and Texila. They attract thousands of foreign tourists every year.
A visit to a historical place is a unique experience full of wonders and awe. Last year I and a company of friends visited Lahore. Like Dehli, Lahore had been the seat of the Mogul rulers, a centre of Muslim culture. Centre always implies excellence. We stayed in the provincial capital for a week. Lahore offers a great variety of tourists and visitors. It is full of parks, running fountains and greenery.
The greatest attractions are the historical places- the Lahore Fort, the Shalimar Gardens, the grand Badshahi Mosque, the Tombs of Jahangir and Noor Jahan, the beauty queen. The Hiran Minar at Shakbupara tells of the strange story of the great love of the emperior for his deer.
First I visited the Fort. It is a wonderful specimen of Mogul architecture. The Sheesh Mahal and Diwan-e-Aam reminded us of the past glory. I was transported into the past and felt myself part and parcel of the scene. The grand Shah Jahan Mosque with its spacious yards and bara-darees, in red stone, made us spellbound. I went up the imposing minaret and saw a bird-eye of the city.
The next day we drove the Shalimar Gardens and Tombs of Jahangir and his Queen. It was the spring season. The old trees in blossoms, the colorful smiling flowers and the running fountains gave a good feast to our eyes. We descended the well where the green enjoyed scented baths. The well is renowned for it’s half hot, and half cold water. From the canopy, I surveyed the scene like a prince.
The beautiful tomb of Emperior Jahanghir in marble and aplic work depicted Mogul tastes. The surrounding ministerial annexes and towers were in bad shape. The gardens were well maintained. But the Tomb of Queen Noor Jahan presented an humble picture. It reminded me of Gray’s famous line
“The paths of glory lead but to the grave.”
On the third day we visited the historical museum and Hinar Minar. A few could climb it. We enjoyed boating in the tank and snacks in the garden. We did not fail to see the Lahore Zoo. Fatima Jinnah garden, Iqbal Park and Nawaz Shareef Park. The most impressive scene was the Racecourse park with colourful winking fountains during the night and an artificial water fall.
At last we enjoyed a picnic in the newly built Bara-Daee across the Ravi. As we stood on the bank and said goodbye, the river seemed to whisper to us:
“For man many came and man may go; But I go on for ever”.

In this age of hurries and worries, a picnic provides an escape from the monotonous routine of life. Last Sunday, we decided to go on a picnic. We wished to visit some historical places because they are our cultural heritage. So, we chose Jahangir’s Tomb as our picnic point. We reached the tomb in the morning at 10. The weather was very pleasant.
The splendid building of the tomb was very impressive. There was greenery all around. A cool breeze was blowing. Birds were chirping in the trees. There were vast lawns, open spaces, and flowers of different colours.

At about 2 o’clock, we sat under a shady tree. My mother spread the table cloth on the ground and put our things on it. Mother had prepared many tasty dishes. We took some meals and had some rest.
Then we played cricket in a grassy park. It was a source of great amusement. My elder brother told some interesting anecdotes. We sang together some national and film songs.
In the evening, we packed our belongings and our way home. Our hearts were saturated. It was a picnic of full enjoyment and recreation.
